PERSONAL INFORMATION HANDLING POLICY

FAMILYNET JAPAN CORPORATION (hereinafter referred to as the “Company”) may use personal information relating to the User in connection with the Company’s provision of the home appliance remote control service ”rimoco+” (hereinafter referred to as the “Service”) for the intended uses as set forth below to the extent necessary.

2. INTENDED USES OF PERSONAL INFORMATION


[TYPES OF PERSONAL INFORMATION THAT MAY BE OBTAINED]

(1) Personal information voluntarily provided by the User
The User’s address (including the property name and room number), name, email address, etc. that may be used to determine the User’s identity as an individual
(2) Information that is gathered in the course of the User’s Service use
a. Information relating to the User’s Device (device information, terminal ID, etc.)
b. Information on the User’s Infrared Connection Device that has been registered for the Service use (the model, manufacturer, remote control pattern, etc. of the Infrared Connection Device)
c. Information on the operation schedule settings relating to the User’s Wired Connection Device and Infrared Connection Device (the models of the Wired Connection Device and the Infrared Connection Device for which any operation schedule settings have been created, the scheduled operation dates and times, etc.)
d. Information on behavioral records (data on the User’s behaviors, settings, selections, entries, usage dates and times, usage hours, usage locations, ON/OFF status of the Wired Connection Device and the Infrared Connection Device, etc. relating to the Service)
e. Information on scenario settings (the models of the Wired Connection Device and the Infrared Connection Device involved in the scenario settings, the dates and times, temperatures, etc. specified in the scenario settings, etc.)
f. Information on the App (the smartphone app through which the Service can be used) and its linked devices:
・Basic information on the App such as the model, software version, etc. and the individual unit identification information
・Basic information on the linked devices such as their models, operation protocols, etc.
・Status information that can be obtained from the linked devices
・Log information (IP addresses, access data, etc.)
g. Information on the electrical signals, radio wave signals, etc. that are necessary for remotely operating the Wired Connection Device and the Infrared Connection Device using the App.

[Intended uses]

(1) to provide the Service;
(2) to analyze usage conditions and gather statistical data in order to improve the Service;
(3) to provide information and notification to the User concerning the Service;
(4) to provide the help desk service and otherwise handle User inquiries;
(5) to provide Service updates;
(6) to provide such functions and support that improve the user-friendliness of the Service;
(7) to detect whether the User has moved out of the exclusively owned housing unit at the Specified Property;
(8) to provide such information that is individually optimized for the User;
(9) to use as reference information, etc. for product development purposes (including solicitation of participants in trials of new products and functions);
(10) to allow the Company to provide services such as market analysis and marketing support to business entities;
(11) to conduct studies on equipment that will be applied to exclusively owned housing units at real properties that are being sold by real estate sales companies;
(12) to allow the manufacturers of equipment that is or will be applied to exclusively owned housing units at real properties to improve the quality of the equipment; and
(13) to serve any other intended uses ancillary to those as set forth in the preceding items.

3. VOLUNTARY NATURE OF INFORMATION PROVISION

The User may voluntarily decide whether to provide any personal information to the Company. However, if the User elects not to provide any necessary personal information, the Company may not be able to provide the entire Service or any part thereof to the User.

4. PROVISION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION TO THIRD PARTIES

The Company does not furnish to a third party any personal information that is provided by the User through the App without obtaining the prior consent of the User, unless otherwise specified by law, regulation, etc.

5. OUTSOURCING OF PERSONAL INFORMATION HANDLING

The Company may hire an outside contractor to outsource to it any part of the concerned operation in order to facilitate the operation in an efficient manner. In vetting such outside contractor, the Company shall evaluate each prospect’s level of information security and personal information management to select a company that is implementing essential security measures and shall manage and supervise it properly.

6. DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION, ETC.

If the Company receives a request from the User to notify what the intended uses are of the personal information that has been provided by the User, or to disclose, revise, add to, suspend the use of, delete, or suspend the provision to a third party, etc. of the User’s personal information (hereinafter collectively referred to as “disclosure, etc.”), the Company shall swiftly respond to such request after verifying the User’s identity. For details on how to file such request for disclosure, etc., please refer to the section on the Company’s website where the personal data disclosure, etc. request procedure is explained.
In this connection, please note that no personal information may be disclosed in any of the circumstances as set forth below:
(1) if the Company’s disclosure, etc. of the personal information could negatively affect the life, body, or property of the User or a third party or any right or interest of the User or a third party;
(2) if the Company’s disclosure, etc. of the personal information could significantly disrupt the Company’s normal business operation;
(3) if the Company’s disclosure, etc. of the personal information otherwise constitutes a violation of any law or regulation; or
(4) if any required consent cannot be obtained on the procedure as specified by the Company.
